Donald J Frame (1926-2012)

Don Frame has been one of our active Garden Home History Project members, always available to answer questions about old Garden Home. He died on December 30, 2012. Don had a great memory and participated in some of our interviews with newspaper reporters.

Don graduated in 1944 from Tigard High School. He joined the Navy in WWII and served in the Pacific. As a boy, he moved to the home on Garden Home Road at 65th with his parents Bill and Doris Frame in about 1936. After the war, he and his wife moved back to Garden Home in 1936 to raise their family. During WWII an air-raid alarm was placed on the roof of the small barn that was in their back yard. Don’s daughter kept her horse in the barn and later Don remodeled the building to house his truck. The outside of the building no longer looks much like a barn but inside you can still see the ladder that went up to the loft.

He was known for his love of old cars and especially his red Model “A” pickup. He enjoyed his role in transporting the Tigard and Westview High Schools Homecoming Courts in his 1931 pickup each year. He liked to talk about the process which was certainly unique for Court entrances.

Don was one of our early supporters and we appreciate his contributions to our history. We will miss him. He is survived by his wife Jacquelynn, son Doug and daughter Kimberly Floistad and siblings Alan Frame, Margie Tipton, and Muriel Feole and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Update: Donald’s wife, Jacquelynn Delores Frame (February 5, 1930 to November 14, 2017) passed away in 2017.
