Thanks to Polly Herman for her contribution of a Garden Home labeled sweatshirt. Should we sell something like this? Also thanks to Don Dunbar for a Garden Home classroom pennant and a lovely candle stick made from wood from the “original 1911 Garden Home School”. It opened in 1912.
“At each meeting the class room with the most parents in attendance at the PTA meeting would be recognized and awarded a pennant although Mrs. Stephens noted in her November 1937 minutes that the winning classroom won a bowl of goldfish.”
Thanks to Mildred Stevens for the book of 1930s PTA minutes. It’s a goldmine.
